The Royal Family is as outdated as Newsweek, but both continue to exist, albeit mainly in online form.
Despite the fact that they're two peas in an old-timey pod, Newsweek and the royals may soon be at odds thanks to an interview with Australian feminist author Germaine Greer that the magazine published this week.
Asked about Kate Middleton's second pregnancy and resulting health issues, Greer went off on pretty much every member of the royal family except for Kate.
"Kate is a great deal more intelligent than the rest of the royals," Greer said. "She has been put in charge of William."
Greer went on to tackle the issue of Kate's severe morning sickness, which she believes to be symptomatic of a much larger problem:
"[Kate] is vomiting her guts out and shouldn't have been made to go through all of this again so soon," says Greer. "It's not so much that she has to be a womb, she has to be a mother. I would hope after this one, she says, 'That's it. No more.'"
Of course, reports indicate that Kate is planning to have three kids, and Greer believes that's just how the royals would like it.
Author of the iconic 1968 book, The Female Eunuch, Greer believes Kate has the capacity to be a hero to young women and a feminist iconic, but the royals are doing all that they can to keep her knocked-up and docile:
"Kate is not even allowed to decorate her own houses...She cannot say or do anything spontaneous. She has learned what she has to do and say and how to do and say it in the approved way."
Wow. We didn't know Kate's situation was so dire. Good thing she popped out a boy, otherwise Will might go all Henry VIII on her.
Can we get #FreeTheDuchess trending on Twitter? This is clearly the biggest humanitarian crisis since Kanye made Kim stop borrowing his leather sweatpants. (She was totally stretching out the butt.)
