Troubled actress Amanda Bynes has been released from the psychiatric facility where she had been held for weeks and was seen walking around alone last night.
Photographers captured her roaming the Sunset Strip late Thursday in L.A.
Needless to say, her abrupt release marks a stunning and dubious turn of events given all we know about her recent actions and medical prognosis.
According to reports, the 28-year-old went before a hearing officer at the psychiatric facility in Pasadena where she was recently placed under a 5150 hold.
She asked to be released, and she was. Why?
Bynes been on her medication and appears lucid, even though her psychiatric hold had been extended by 30 days and doctors believe she is seriously mentally ill.
The hearing officer evidently felt otherwise, ENDING the 30-day hold that had been granted just last week to extend the 72-hour and 14-day periods prior to that.
Just like that, Amanda walked out the door.
TMZ reports that Amanda walked down Sunset Blvd., searching for a place to stay in the hours after she was cut loose, and hit up a diner for some food.
Apparently, she was making small talk with the waiter, saying she was being shy because she had just a procedure on her face which required a bandage.
She was alone and was talking to herself.
Bynes had been looking hotel room but had been turned down at several places, and it's not clear if she ended up getting one or what happened later last night.
As such, the rest of us are left to wonder:
- How her parents could have possibly let their legal conservatorship lapse this summer, leading to Bynes' DUI arrest and epic downward spiral;
- How doctors could be granted a 30-day psychiatric hold that can just be undone by someone who thinks the person acts fine for a few minutes;
