Beyonce dropped a new album on iTunes yesterday, stunning the music world and causing an insane uproar on Twitter.
The self-titled, self-described "visual" CD is comprised of 14 fresh tracks and 17 videos (one of which features daughter Blue Ivy) and it managed to actually crash iTunes temporarily yesterday due to the mad rush of fans to download.
According to Billboard sources, meanwhile, it also sold over 80,000 copies in just three hours after the closing sales window ended Friday at midnight PST.
That's just nutty.
Beyonce's fifth studio album will likely compete with Garth Brooks' ninth studio album for the top spot next week, with Billboard adding that many members of Sony Records itself were kept in the dark about the release of "BEYONCE."
That's how top secret this endeavor was.
The album includes collaborations with Jay Z, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, Drake, Frank Ocean, Pharrell Williams and Justin Timberlake.
"I see music as more than just what I hear," Bey said in a Facebook video. "When I'm connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or an emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my fantasies and they're all connected to the music. And I think that's one of the reasons why I wanted to do a visual album."
