In between Neil Patrick Harris singing to open the 2015 Academy Awards and Birdman taking home the top honor of Best Picture, ABC aired a new teaser for Once Upon a Time last night.
The beloved drama finally returns after a lengthy hiatus on Sunday, with the latest promo previewing quite a drastic change for heroine Emma Swan.
Via voiceover, we hear Rumplestiltskin speaking on "three ways to corrupt a hero," informing incoming villains Maleficent, Ursula and Cruella that there's only one way to guarantee themselves their "happy endings."
They must find someone who can be "molded" into taking a walk on the "dark side."
And to whom is Rumple referring? The camera then pans to Emma standing in front of the Queens of Darkness and letting slip a very un-Savior-like smirk.
Remember that girl in Buffy's dream? Summing up these villains? "Can't even shout. Can't even cry. The Gentlemen are coming by. Looking in windows, knocking on doors... They need to take seven and they might take yours... Can't call to mom. Can't say a word. You're gonna die screaming but you won't be heard."
