On the first part of the Teen Mom 2 Season 5 reunion last night, Leah Messer and Kailyn Lowry dished on the season that was, and what's happened since.
Leah, up first, was thrilled to tell Dr. Drew Pinsky that Ali is doing great. Her marriage to Jeremy Calvert, however, was a bigger point of contention.
Dr. Drew pushes her to admit she doesn't accept his career, while Leah continues to explain that she just wants to know she and the girls come first.
Jeremy shared good news in that he finally has a job close to home that allows him to be there for Leah and the girls more than he has in the past.
He explains that he works grueling hours to make sure that his family is taken care of, which Leah understands, but clearly can't totally embrace.
They have not started therapy yet, and seem reluctant to do so. We've heard from celebrity gossip sites that there's a reality show just for this.
Later, Leah's ex Corey joined her on stage with Dr. Drew to discuss his denial issues, and was surprisingly open about how hard all of this has been.
He showed that he really does know what is going on, no matter how much he doesn't want to talk about it, and how concerned he is, not aloof.
Corey feels that he and Leah co-parent their girls very well, and there's no evidence that this is untrue. Both seem to be model citizens for that, honestly.
Next up, Kailyn Lowry was excited to share that her son Isaac Rivera has really embraced being a big brother to her second son, Lincoln Marroquin.
At the time of the reunion special, Lincoln was only 11 weeks old. Thankfully, Kailyn did not suffer from major postpartum syndrome after giving birth.
That's about where the good news stopped.
After watching a clip from Teen Mom 2 Season 5, Kailyn is rightfully infuriated by her ex Jo Rivera's comment that he hoped her water would break early.
If you watch Teen Mom 2 online, you know that there's major tension between these two. What you didn't see until now is what a toll this took on her.
As for her current partner, they are still married, but Kailyn admits that she still gets physically violent with Javi Marroquin, as we saw during the season.
Kailyn clearly does not want to talk about the abuse she inflicts on Javi, but Dr. Drew pushed her to discuss it, figure out why it happens and get help.
Jo, who Javi says is "always looking for the easy way out," does not seem to be helping matters, and when he joined them on stage? It was tense.
Kailyn says that she invited Jo and his new girlfriend Vee to Isaac's birthday party, but neither came; she does not think Jo is a bad father, however.
Kailyn admits that she wishes they could be more like Corey and Leah, where all four adults prioritize the children and are able to co-parent together.
Hopefully, they can all start to move forward and get back on the same page, although reaching Corey and Leah levels is a lofty goal for this group.
