There was a time when the Robertson family of A&E's Duck Dynasty fame were not redneck royalty, as they reminded us on last night's season finale.
If you watch Duck Dynasty online, you know this well. But it was really driven home this week as the gang headed to the lake to celebrate Willie's birthday.
"When I was a kid [at] D'Arbonne Lake, we didn't have the means," said Jase. "We're going to go back to our roots, but this time we're going to do it right."
Of course, Jase forgot the key to Godwin's uncle's lake house where they would be staying, while Si looked back fondly on going in the lake as a kid.
Yes, as in going #1 or #2 for that matter.
"Look, I don't know what the big deal is okay?" said Si, as only Si says such a thing. "The lake is like having a shower and bathroom combo, okay."
Okay. Hey.
"Take your bath if you want to, swim a little bit and, hey! You gotta go? Go. Society [has gotten] way too precious. You've got to poop in the toilet not the lake?"
"If I can't poop in a lake like a grown man, the yuppies win. And if the yuppies win, they'd sell America. I don't even know who you'd sell it to if the yuppies win, I mean, I wouldn't buy it."
Well spoken, sir. Well spoken.
The poop did not stop there, as Phil discovered fresh raccoon waste - confirmed with his bare hands of course - upon entering the property at last.
He was excited by this, too.
"Vacation with a raccoon hunt you're like hey, 'We're going to be vacationing Papaw Phil style.' We're going to put a bullet right through his eyes," he said.
Good ol' Phil. Eventually, the family celebrated Boss Hog's birthday by hooking him up with a water jet pack. As Jase said, that is doing it RIGHT.
"The Robertson brothers are a unique breed," said Willie, reflecting on his special day and family. "We like to give each other crap, but we do it out of love."
"The truth is," the CEO added. "I couldn't be more thankful to have a brother that would work this hard to make my birthday special. The family had a blast."
