The Red Wedding may have removed a threat from King Joffrey and the Lannisters last year, but the Game of Thrones Season 4 premiere made one thing clear tonight:
New enemies are always around the corner.
Or, in the case of Prince Oberyn Martell, partying it up on the grounds of your very own castle.
Viewers met this dangerous character on Game of Thrones Season 4 Episode 1, as he pretty much invited himself to Joffrey's wedding and made his intentions clear to Tyrion.
He's not a fan of the Lannisters. He's seeking revenge for the fate of his sister. And he's not about to leave this deadly debt unpaid.
Definitely an exciting, interesting debut for a character set to play a big role this season.
Elsewhere on a busy premiere:
- Dany's dragons are getting big. Will she be able to control the adult versions of these pets? Or will they rebel against their mother like any other teenager?
- Jaime breaks the news to his father that he wants to remain in King's Landing, and we all know why: he really wants to remain in Cersei's bed. Too bad Cersei feels letdown by her brother and doesn't wanna be all incestual with him again.
- Ygritte discovered she and her kind aren't the only ones aiming to get over The Wall. But they are the only non-cannibals. Oh, yes, cannibals are now in the picture.
- Finally, Arya avenged her friend's death and did it in the most awesomely gruesome way possible. She plunged a sword into the culprit's neck, quoting his murderous words back to him and even getting her own horse in the process. The Hound has trained her well. These two make for quite the entertaining, unexpected, violent pair.
