With his team in Berlin to play an exhibition game against Alba Berlin, San Antonio Spurs guard Danny Green played tourist this week and stopped by the Holocaust Memorial.
How very cultural of him, right? Sure, absolutely. Except, well...
The sharp shooter snapped a picture of himself at the sacred site and wrote as a caption to the image: "You know I had to do it one time lol #Holocaust."
Unsurprisingly, many reacted in a negative manner to the acronym for "Laughing Out Loud" being placed alongside the hashtag "#Holocaust."
What, exactly, did Green find so funny?
Nothing, as he later changed the caption to read the following:
"A lot of history here, more than you could imagine...very sad/tragic things happened #holocaust #berlin."
He also issued an apology via Twitter.
"I want to sincerely apologize for the insensitivity of my post! I have great respect n understanding for this country's history n wanted to continue chronicling my experience in Berlin. But showed poor judgement...sorry once again"
Back in July, a similar controversy arose when teenagers snapped happy selfies while visiting Auschwitz.
Fortunately for Green, meanwhile, this scandal broke around the same time as Ray Rice knocking out his fiancee and Adrian Peterson beating up his child. So it's doubtful anyone will give it much thought.
