Jan Hooks: Mourned, Remembered on Twitter >>Hollywood

Early yesterday morning in New York City, Jan Hooks died after a battle with an unknown serious illness.

She was 57 years old.

Not long after the tragic news broke, a number of celebrities took to Twitter to mourn and remember the star, who played a major role on Saturday Night Live from 1986-1991.

Here's a rundown of their sad thoughts...

Dane Cook: If you never saw Jan Hooks The Sweeney Sisters sketch search'em & watch her great singing/comedic timing.

Tony Hale: So so gifted. RIP Jan Hooks.

Colin Hanks: Jan Hooks always made me laugh. always.

Cheyenne Jackson: RIP JanHooks.  Worked briefly with her on 30Rock and she was a twistedly brilliant comedic presence.  #Adobe

Kristen Johnston: I can't believe it. Jan Hooks appeared in many 3rd Rock eps. We all truly loved her. I can't believe she's gone, another comedic genius.

Cheri Oteri: RIP Jan Hooks. An endearing, funny woman who so inspired and made me laugh so much. A bright light went out.

Billy Eichner: Such sad news about the BRILLIANT Jan Hooks. Worshipped her on SNL. RIP.

Joshua Malina: Shocked and saddened to read that Jan Hooks passed away. R.I.P. to a very funny woman.

Paul Walker
Paul Walker died in a car accident on November 30, 2013. He left behind a daughter and a burgeoning film career.

Jon Lovitz, meanwhile, starred on Saturday Night Live with Hooks and released the following statement:

"This is very, very sad news about Jan. She was easily one of the best comedic actresses to be on SNL.

"When ever she and Phil Hartman worked together, it was magic. As Jim and Tammy Faye Baker on Church Chat with Dana Carvey, the three of them created one of the best sketches, ever, in the history of SNL. She was terrifi
