So much for that whole "inescapable death" thing, huh?
Despite The Plague playing a key role on the Reign Season 2 premiere, the series shifted gears pretty quickly on last night's install ment of this CW hit.
Francis returnd home to off Reign Season 2 Episode 2, with Lola, the baby and Condé in tow. Kenna, naturally, commented immediately on Condé's good looks.
Francis and Mary, meanwhile, immediately engaged in some make-up sex, while Bash received a strong hug from his brother before receiving an invite to be part of Francis' council.
Bash doesn't have much time to ponder the offer because Narcisse arrives and starts looking into the death of his son, discovering a lone survivor in his child's cell and getting the entire story from him.
In the midst of Francis' return celebration, Narcisse and his army of nobles ask that Nostradamus be charged with murder. Mary attempts to handle the situation by going to Narcisse's chambers… but he has no fear of a Queen.
He wants Nostradamus and the guards who killed his son drawn and quartered. The guy is hardcore.
What can Mary and Francis do? They need evidence that Narcisse has killed innocent people to acquire land. Go find it, they ask Bash.
However, Bash comes across a creepy stranger who warns of a "reckoning," saying all of the death and injustice has left a door open between the dead and the living. Uh-oh.
Back at the castle, Lola reaches out to help Mary find dirt on Narcisse. Via a priest, Mary discovers that Narcisse has not just stolen money from the Vatican, he's also assisted in the killing of a Cardinal!
With Francis and Mary scheming, Catherine bids farewell to her once-loyal follower, telling Nostradamus how sonnets will be penned about him and that he will have a statue in Paris. But he basically has just one word in response: Clarissa.
Yup, Catherine. Clarissa is probably alive... which means the prophecy is not fulfilled... and Francis remains at risk.
Before he can say more, Nostradamus is dragged away. Fortunately, Mary steps in before he can be fully quartered and tells Narcisse that she has evidence for that whole Cardinal killing thing. (She does not. It's a bluff.)
However, Francis interrupts, grabbing the letters that Mary supposedly sent off and burning them so that Narcisse believes he can trust the king. He also gives Narcisse Leith's land.
Francis then goes to see Bash, who accepts the role of King's Deputy. He's also told by Mary that her baby will have his name after all.
After Mary departs, Francis asks her maid how to properly hold his kid. But wait! Hold on! Just a second! Did she just say something about bringing Francis into this world? Is Catherine NOT Francis' birth mother?!?!?!?!?!
We end with King Henry (WHOA!) possessing the maid's body and the maid admitting she's Francis' father.

Now THAT's an ending! Go
